CREATIVE DIRECTION | EXPERIENCE DESIGN | FACILITATION

Google Experience Institute (Xi) tasked us with crafting a trade show experience that invited attendees to connect, recharge, and grow. We designed The CoLaboratory as a community sanctuary where attendees immersed themselves into concepts of human flourishing.

I began by exploring biophilic design, drawing on our innate connection with nature to craft a rejuvenating environment that conceptually aligned with the educational content in the booth.

I translated this vision into a comprehensive brief, guiding our production design partners in bringing the spatial design to life.

I created the visual language for the CoLaboratory ensuring function met feeling with every decision. Mirroring the spatial brief, nature inspired tones, organic forms and symmetry echoed the unpredictable, yet balanced, rhythms of nature. 

The core set of illustrations were abstracted from a collective art-making exercise I facilitated with the Google Xi Community ahead of the event. Community members drew in response to the prompt: “What does the Xi Community symbolize to you?”

These forms reflected the core values of Google Xi and gave members a sense of ownership, as they saw themselves represented in the event identity system.

During the event, I executed our vision through hands-on support. I welcomed and guided attendees, managed logistics, and ensured a smooth flow for each session. 

This project was the culmination of over a year of collaboration with Google Xi, allowing me to deeply align purpose and concept for the CoLaboratory. The positive feedback from attendees and our client affirmed that when purpose and design align, the experience resonates.
